Shipping AI features without the demo-day gloss
A model that wows in a demo can embarrass you in production. The unglamorous checklist we use before an AI feature reaches real users.

Demos are rehearsed. Production is not. The gap between the two is where most AI features quietly fail.
Our pre-launch checklist
- Write the failure cases first. List ten inputs that should not work, and decide what the product does for each.
- Measure with real examples. A spreadsheet of fifty real questions beats any amount of gut feeling.
- Keep a human exit. Every AI step needs a clear way for the user to correct it or skip it.
- Log everything you are allowed to. You cannot improve what you cannot see.
- Set a cost ceiling. Know the price per request before your traffic does.
Be honest in the interface
Tell people when an answer comes from a model, show the source when there is one, and make "this is wrong" a one-click action. Trust is built by how a product behaves when it is uncertain, not when it is right.
None of this is glamorous. All of it is the difference between a feature people try once and a feature they rely on.
